Discobolus in Istanbul

The discus thrower from the British Museum is from the 5th February 2010 to the 4th April2010 in the Istanbul Archaeological Museum. The Discobolus is a Roman marble copy of bronze original, which was found in Hadrian’s Villa at Tivoli.

The Discobolus (discus thrower) by Myron is one of the most famous Greek statues in general.It provides a discipline of the pentathlon, the discus. The sculpture can be completely dropped the archaic principle of frontality, in favor of a movement and spatial design of the sculpture.

The turkish Coffee

1517 under the Period of Sultan Yavuz Selim had brought Özdemir Pasha, the governor of Yemen, his favorite drink, the coffee to Istanbul. The coffee took place great interest in a short time as a respected drink in the palace kitchen. The coffee, which has been serving lengthy ceremonies at the palace, was therefore drinking much in the public. It opened a lot of coffee houses, which have created a cafe tradition.

In 1544 two Syrian Arabs opened the first coffeehouse in Istanbul Tahtakale.

The Turkish coffee is a drink that is being offered as the first to the guests by the locals.
